Ambedkar Jayanti commemoration, Weekly India@75 Quiz, School Outreach programme and 'India Hungary Dialogues' organised during Amrit Mahotsav Celebrations by EoI, Budapest (April 2021)

Ambedkar Jayanti - To mark India@75, Ambedkar Jayanti was celebrated suitably in collaboration with Dr.Ambedkar School in Miskolc city, where Ambassador inaugurated a dedicated 'India Room' at the school premises. Books, Indian costumes, electronic items like hard drives with Indian music & films in soft copy, as well as decoration items were contributed. Preceding the event, a virtual event was also organsied by Amrita Sher-Gil Cultural Centre for the students with Debates & Essay Contests. Winners were felicitated by Ambassador & Founder of the School. Weekly India@75 Quiz launched on all social media platforms of Mission/Cultural Centre where important questions are put up through infographics. Monthly winners would be announced. Media Coverage of India@75 continued with special weekly quiz on Cool FM, where questions are on Indian Culture, art, monuments, history etc. Winners are given gift vouchers from Indian stores & restaurants. School Outreach programme based on India@75 started with a special programme 'Dharohar' where Indian musical instruments were introduced to Hungarian students through lecture-demos and performances, followed by interactive sessions. Mission has been doing an in-depth video interview series this year called 'India Hungary Dialogues' . This month a very enlightening interview was published on all social media platforms of Dr. Imre Lazar, Cultural Diplomat & writer who has stayed in India & worked on strengthening India-Hungary relations. A Cultural Magazine 'Kutfo..Cultural Talks' has been launched for India@75 where eminent cultural players like artists, spiritual leaders, writers, painters, musicians would be featured & interviewed. This month started with the talk with Ferencz Roland, Tamil Expert in Hungary

India@75 Weekly Quiz

From April, Embassy of India in Hungary is running a India@75 #amritmahotsav special quiz on history, heritage, art, culture, music etc of India which is with colourful infographic. Immense response has been received. Every month a winner is declared out of the earliest correct responses. The final winner of all the quizzes would be announced on Aug 15th August who will get an Incredible India hamper

Gurudev Tagore India@75

This year Mission celebrated Gurudev Tagore's 160th birth anniversary at Balatonfured in Hungary where Tagore had visited & stayed for a few months due to illness. A promenade on lake balaton ahs been named after th poet where his statue has been installed unde rthe linden tree planted by Tagore himself. Several notable dignataries in the last decades have planted trees in the garden adjacent to the promenade. Ambassador & Mayor paid floral tribute at the statue on 5th May followed by a vibrant specially curated dance drama on Tagore's Gitanjali with Bharatnatyam & odissi performances by Hungarian artists Panni Somi & Virag Turi.

Food Distribution camp for Homeless in Budapest

On August 12th, EOI Budapest held a food distribution camp in Budapest for the homeless & the needy to mark the amrit mahotsav. This was done in partnership with ISKCON in Hungary & SRF limited. The programme was led by Ambassador Kumar Tuhin and Dy Mayor Csaba Sonlyodi. This humnatarian initiative was organsied as a run up to the 75th Independence Day of India

Marking the celebrations of Sanskrit Week, several Indologists, artists & members of Indian diaspora gave messages in Sanskrit and celebrated this glorious day. Noted Indologist & professor of Sanskrit, Dr. Csaba Deszo gave special message on this day.

Visit of President ICCR

From Sept 28-30, President ICCR visited Budapest for the Hindi Diwas physical celebrations marking Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The event was inaugurated by President. In the event students of Hindi both Indian and Hungarian presented vibrant programme with poetry reading, dances and Hindi play.On the sidelines of the visit, President also met the Leadership team of ELTE University and the faculty of Dept of Indian Studies at ELTE University. President gave a lecture for the students at the University, on the topic 'India'75, from past, to the present, into the future.'

Hindi Diwas celebrated with ICCR President as Chief Guest

On 29th Sept, Embassy of India celebrated ' Hindi Diwas' which was inaugurated by ICCR President, Dr. Vinay Prabhakr Sahasrabuddhe. the programme comprised of poetry recitation, Hindi Play, classical dance & tabla performances and speeches by Dr. Sahasrabuddhe, Ambassador and Prof Mate Ittzes.
