Holi celebrations, Ambedkar Jayanti commemorations and Bilateral Business Promotion events were organised during Amrit Mahotsav Celebrations by HCI, Accra (April 10-30, 2021)

(i) On 10th April 2021, Holi was celebrated with eminent persons from Indian Diaspora at India House. (ii)14th April 2021, India@75-Social Justice Cornerstone of Indian Constitution was organized to commemorate the 130th birth anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. The event started with floral tributes to Dr Ambedkar, addresses by High Commissioner & Director of Institute of Democratic Governance of Ghana, quiz & awards to winners of essay Competition. (iii) On 14th April India@75 - Celebrating Continuance of Rich Heritage was also organized. During the event HC launched the Little Guru app and urged the participants to download, use & promote this gamified app to learn world’s oldest language through fun. HC also Awarded the winners of Painting Competition. ISKCON & Hindu Monastery of Africa were also recognized for their contribution to promotion of Indian Heritage in Ghana. (iv) During his visit to Ashanti Region from 17-24 April 2021, High Commissioner established India Corner at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology in Kumasi with gift of books on India. (v) On 30th April, an event ‘India@75 Intensifying Business Bilaterally’ was organized. During the event, High Commissioner urged businesses for their assessment of road to post-pandemic recovery.

1. India-Ghana Ashanti Round Table on 19th April 2021. 2. High Commission organized Partnership Day on the theme "India@75 Mutual Development through Cooperation" on 21st May 2021 at High Commission of India's premises. 3. India-Ghana Region Round Table on 24th May 2021. 4. Establishment of 'India Corner' at the University of Development Studies, a premier higher educational institution of Northern Region of Ghana, in Tamale on 24 May 2021. 5. India-Ghana Northern Region Business Event organized with Association of Ghana Industries. 6. High Commission organized 'India@75 Continuing Universal Message of Buddha' on Buddha Purnima on 26th May 2021 at High Commission of India's premises. An essay competition on 'Journey from Siddhartha to Buddha' and 'Relevance of Buddha's Message Today' was also organized and awards were given to the winners. 7. High Commission organized a Session of Indian Community Forum on the theme "India@75 Growing Together with Diaspora" on 28th May 2021 at High Commission of India. 8. High Commission of India is also conducting India@75 Amrit Mahotsav Quiz on daily basis on its social media platforms.

Launch of Celebrations of India@75 on 12th March 2021 & India@75 Painting Competition on ‘Regional Diversity in India’ (March 12-31, 2021)

To launch the two and half year long celebrations of 75 years of India independence an event was organized on 12th March 2021 at India House in Accra. Speaker of Ghanaian Parliament Right Hon’ble Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Chief Justice of Ghana His Lordship Anin Yeboah, Minister of National Security Mr. Albert Kan Dapaah, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Mr. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, Minister of Foreign Affairs & Regional Integration Ms. Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, Minister of Sanitation & Water Resources Ms. Cecilia Abena Dapaah, Minister of Tourism, Arts & Culture Mr. Ibrahim Mohammed Awal, Traditional Chief Togbe Afede XIV, NDC VP Candidate Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, former Minister of Eastern Region Mr. Eric Kwakye Darfour, Chief of Defence Staff Vice Admiral Seth Amoama and former Ghana HC to India Mr. Mike A.N.N. Oquaye Jnr, were among the guests who attended the event. Most of them were accompanied by their spouses. The event was an invite only event due to Covid-19 protocol restrictions. Total 200 invited guests were in attendance. The event was inaugurated with ceremonial lamp lighting and playing of National Anthems followed by addresses of the High Commissioner, President of the Indian Association of Ghana, the Speaker of Parliament of Ghana and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Ghana also underlined the same. The event also featured a cultural programme showcasing dance performances depicting cultural diversity of India by local Indian as well as Ghanaian artists. A Dinner reception was also hosted by the HC for the honourable guests in the end. (2) (ii) 27th March : The Mission has conducted India@75 Painting Competition on ‘Regional Diversity in India’. More than 20 children participated in the painting competition.

India@75: Planting a Tree for a Sustainable World & Celebrations of 7th International Day of Yoga (June 2021)

(i) High Commission of India celebrated ‘India@75: Planting a Tree for a Sustainable World’ on occasion of Green Ghana Day & World Environment Day High Commissioner planted a Neem tree at India House in Accra on 11th June 2021. (ii) The 7th International Day of Yoga was celebrated by the High Commission of India, Accra with great enthusiasm on Saturday, 19th June 2021. High Commissioner, Mr. Sugandh Rajaram, led the event at India House, with enthusiastic participation of authorities, Ghanaians, diplomatic corps and Indian community. The event was inaugurated with traditional lamp lighting by the Chief of Naval Staff of Ghana, Rear Admiral Issah Yokubu, UN Resident Coordinator to Ghana, Mr. Charles Abani, Dean of Diplomatic Corps of Ghana, Mrs. Caludia Turbay Quintero and former Head of UNOWAS, Mr. Muhammed Ibn Chabas and the High Commissioner. During High Commissioner’s address to the gathering, High Commissioner stressed the need of Yoga for holistic health & wellbeing of humanity. High Commissioner also highlighted significance of Yoga to strengthen physical immunity and mental health. High Commissioner’s address was followed by the demonstration of Common Yoga Protocol by the local Yoga Instructor. During the event High Commissioner awarded prizes to the winners of essay competitions, which was conducted for two different age groups. High Commissioner also gifted Yoga Khadi Kits to the Guests of Honor as well. High Commissioner also interacted with the local Ghanaian media, which was arranged by the Mission, and briefed them about the importance of Yoga and Ayurveda in today’s world and about the celebrations of International Day of Yoga all over the world by the Indian Missions abroad. The event witnessed the presence of around 200 participants from all walks of life. Live streaming of the event was also conducted on Mission’s Facebook page.
