Hindi Kavi Sammelan , Ambedkar Jayanti commemorations and Baisakhi Celebrations were organised during Amrit Mahotsav Celebrations by CGI, Birmingham (April 11-17, 2021)

Hindi Kavi Sammelan - 2021 As part of India@75, a Hindi Kavi Sammelan was organised by Consulate General of India, Birmingham, Gitanjali Multilingual Literary Circle & Hindi Academy and Mumbai on 11th April, 2021. Poets from all round the World recited poems about their feelings of 'Home away from Home'! Consul General Dr. Shashank Vikram also launched a Poetry book Naya Basera on the occasion. Ambedkar Jayanti-Consulate General of India, Birmingham celebrated Ambedkar Jayanti on 14th April 2021 with a India@75 theme. Baisakhi Celebrations-The post celebrated Baisakhi on the theme of India@75 along with the members of the Indian diaspora. The celebration was hosted on 17th April at 1200 hrs.

1. Yoga, which unites one’s body and soul, is now uniting people, community & countries! Celebrations of the 7th International Day of Yoga started off in Manchester; 2. CGI Birmingham celebrated the 7th International Day of Yoga in association with Indian communities and yoga learning institutions at Centre for Oneness, Sant Nirankari Satsang Bhawan, Wednesbury, and Birmingham. Representatives of Sant Nirankari 3. Mission and the Consulate participated in the event; Spectacular display of Yoga at Grand Central Birmingham- A grand display right at the Heart of Midlands was done to celebrate the 7th International Day of Yoga. Seniors across UK benefitted from the immense health & mental advantage of Yoga. Yoga for all at the Keighley at Norwood House, an iconic care home in West York shire on the occasion of the 7th international Day of Yoga; 4. Consulate General of India, Birmingham organised the Celebrations of IDY2021, Asanas by British Yoga Lovers, in front of tallest free standing clock tower in the world at the University of Birmingham in continuation of the week long celebrations ; 5. Consulate General of India, Birmingham organised a Yoga Event at Leeds in the North of England practicing at one of the biggest city parks ; 6. CGI Birmingham Celebrated IDY2021 with Yoga for wellness at the beautiful Gandhi Peace Centre Dudley Balaji Temple; 7. Consulate General of India, Birmingham Celebrated IDY 2021 at Bradford. Yoga enthusiasts in Bradford came together to celebrate the 7th International Yoga Day Thanks to Bradford Hindu Council; 8. Consulate General of India, Birmingham Celebrated IDY 2021 in Liverpool the, city of Beatles; 9. Exclusive talk show on eternal connection between Sanskrit &Yoga was organised by CGI Birmingham to commemorate #IDY2021 week.; 10. Consulate General of India, Birmingham celebrated Yoga at Coventry in partnership with enthusiasts & organisations in Midlands& North of England, which made these celebrations so successful.

Flag Hoisting ceremony - 75th Independence Day celebrations at Consulate General of India Birmingham

The Flag Hoisting ceremony was organised on the occasion of India's 75th Independence Day on August 15, 2021 with traditional fervour and enthusiasm at the Chancery premises. The celebrations commenced with unfluring of the National Flag by the Consul General Dr. Shashank Vikram followed by collective singing of the National Anthem. Soon after that Consul General read out the address of Hon'ble President of the Nation to all the guests present. More than 110 members of British, Indian community and the Consulate officials joined the celebrations including the Rt. Hon'ble Baroness Sandip Verma, Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor Muhammad Afzal, Lord Mayor of Leicester Mr. Deepak Bajaj, Mayor of the Borough of Telford & Wrekin Council, Mr. Amrik Jhawar, Mr. Simon Foster, West Midlands Police & Crime Commissioner along with several Councillors, Deputy Lieutenants, academics, professionals and members of the Indian diaspora from Midlands & North England.

Online Poster and Painting Competition 2021 Topic: "My idea of India"

‘Amrit Mahotsav’ is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate the 75 years of progressive India and the glorious history of it’s people, culture and achievements. The celebration is an embodiment of all that is progressive about India’s socio-cultural, political and economic identity. The five pillar of the celebration are divided into five sub-heads - Freedom struggle, Ideas at 75, Achievements at 75, Actions at 75, and Resolve at 75.“ In this Poster and Painting Competition, ICCR invites artistic expression on the theme “My idea of India”. This may include how you envision the India of yesterday, today and the India which will merge from amalgamation of tradition & heritage with a modern scientific technological outlook. Launch of Rythms of India by Consulate General of India Birmingham

To commemorate the 75 years of India’s independence and as a part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, a Indian Classical series Rythms Of India, which is a year long celebrations of the Indian classical music & dance was launched at the Consulate with stellar performances on this Independence Day. The series will entail fortnightly performances in Indian classical dance and music which will be telecasted on our social media handles and YouTube. The launch programme included Kathak dance by Guru Kajal Sharma, an exponent in Kathak classical Dance, followed by Soulful rendition of Vande Matram by Ms. Jiya Harikumar. The event concluded with a Bharatnatyam performance by Ms. Vithya Mayuran & Ms. Sahana Shrikaanth. Dignitaries & guests from Midlands & North England graced the occasion.
