Course on Indian Culture, Arts and Society at University of Valladolid

The course "Culture, Arts and Society of India", designed as an introductory course to the culture of India with special emphasis on music and performing arts kicked off India@75 celebrations. The course contents taught by professors from the University of Valladolid, as well as other specialists from Spain and India in different subjects, covered various aspects of Indian culture and arts to understand contemporary Indian culture . Organized by the Buendía Center of the University of Valladolid with the support of the Pro Vice Chancellor for Internationalization of the University of Valladolid, the Embassy of India, the Casa de la India, and with the collaboration of the UVa Music Classroom.

ICCR Foundation Day celebrations , Festival celebrations and Movie Screening organised during Amrit Mahotsav Celebrations by EoI, Madrid (April 2021)

i) Online conference on Upanisad Webinar on Outsourcing and Procurement in India was held on 29 April. The Sources Of Indian Philosophy was held on 7 April by Juan Arnau, philosopher and essayist. ii) 71st ICCR Foundation Day celebrations on 9 April included dance performances, video presentations on experiences in India and roundtable discussions with ICCR Alumni. iii) Vishu, Bihu, Puthandu, Ugadi, Baisakhi, Gudi Padwa, Nabo Barsho, Maha Bisuba and Sankranti were celebrated with Spanish colleagues on 13 April. iv) Mooknayak Leader of the Silent was screened online on Ambedkar Jayanti. Embassy participated in the Baisakhi celebrations at Gurdwara Nanaksar, Madrid on 18 April and presented a biography of Gurunanak Devji. v) Webinar on New Independent Cinema of Kerala was held on 20 April. The third edition of IndiaIndie Indian Independent Film Show was held from 21 to 29 April at Casa de la India and at Broadway Cinemas in Valladolid. vi) Embassy co-organized EU-India relations a geopolitical necessity webinar on 27 April which discussed topics such as the Indo- Pacific, India-EU relations and reopening trade negotiations. Spain-India E-ncounters on International Dance Day (29 April) celebrated dancer and choreographer Gloria Mandelik, exponent of Bharatnatyam, Spanish dance and ballet. Webinar on Outsourcing and procurement in India was held on 29 April. Galician Center for Visual Arts hosted Film Cycle on Mani Kaul from 23 March 23 to 30 April.

Online Dance Workshops organised during Amrit Mahotsav Celebrations by EoI, Copenhagen ( May 2021)

A webinar on Hinduism and Philosophy was held online on May 4 with Casa Asia. On May 5-6, in the framework of the centenary of the filmmaker Satyajit Ray, the online screening of two documentaries "Satyajit Ray" and "Rabindranath Tagore" were held. On May 7 a special video on Tagore with images of the Bengali genius and song sung by the Spanish composer and singer-songwriter Amancio Prada was screened. An online conference on the educational ideals of Rabindranath Tagore by Dr. Xicoténcatl Martínez was organized on the same day. On the occasion of Rabindra Jayanti, an online debate was organized on May 10 about various aspects of the work and the timeless and universal legacy of the poet with the speakers- Òscar Pujol, Shreyashee Nag and SP Ganguly. On May 19, within the framework of the International Tourism Trade Fair (FITUR), the online presentation of the travel guide "Udaipur Architectural Travel Guide" (Altrim Publishers) by Ariadna A. Garreta and María Cobos was organized. On May 20 within the framework of the International Tourism Trade Fair (FITUR), a webinar on "Mountaineering in India" by mountaineers Juan Luis Salcedo and Juan Antonio Padilla was organized. On May 21, Ambassador participated in the signing of MoU between Casa de la India and the Andalusian Flamenco School. Ambassador met with the President of the Spain Film Commission on May 21 for collaboration projects between India and Spain in the world of cinema

Event on Promotion of Indian Literature, Events on Arts, Cinema, Textiles, Music, Ayurveda and IDY celebrations organised during Amrit Mahotsav Celebrations by EoI, Madrid (June 09-27, 2021)

1. Participation in the Valladolid Book Fair included Tagoreando show, displaying Tagore works and activities for families; 2. Ambassador participated in the 30th edition of Marathon of Stories in Guadalajara and spoke about the stories and storytelling tradition in India. Mission collaborated in the I World Cinema International Conference dedicated to Indian Cinema by the University of Complutense, Madrid; 3. Webinar on Ancient Texts of India about textile art, its origins and its current situation in India was held; 4. Pranshu Chatur Lal gave an online Tabla concert on World Music Day; 5. Tagore Poetry and Songs were showcased in the framework of the I International Festival of Literature in Spanish in Castille y Leon. Ambassador’s interview was featured in the cover of Revista Diplomacia magazine’s June edition; 6. IDY 2021 was celebrated with over 3000 participants in 10 cities including Madrid, Mallorca, Barcelona and Valladolid and Andorra la Vella; 7. Online sessions on Yoga and Ayurveda were showcased.
