The 187-metre iconic CAIRO TOWER, the tallest structure in Egypt and North Africa; was lit with Tricolour for first time ever on 15 August 2021. Thousands of onlookers were enthralled by the light show for India@75.

Symposium on Egypt- India Cultural Relations (25 August 2021)
A Symposium on "Egypt- India Cultural Relations" was organised by Supreme Council of Culture with Embassy of India in Cairo on 25 August 2021. Ambassador Ajit Gupte and prominent Egyptian Professors highlighted deeply entrenched cultural links between India and Egypt. Dr. Mohammed Hegazy, former Ambassador of Egypt to India and other scholars highlighted commonalities between both civilisations and praised India for being an example of "Unity in Diversity" and tolerance.

Embassy of India in Cairo, showcased Indian dance and cuisine at International Cultural Festival "Gouter 2021", held in Cairo on 25 September 2021. Baron Empain Palace, a landmark building inspired by and resembling a Hindu temple, provided an ideal backdrop for the famous Festival.

The Embassy hosted 'Indian Film Festival' from 3 to 6 Oct 2021, with support of Ministry of Culture, Egypt. The Festival was inaugurated at Cairo Opera House with the screening of ‘Chak De! India’. Bollywood movies are very popular in Egypt.
Diwali celebrations at India House on 5 November 2021
Deepawali was celebrated with great enthusiasm by Indian community in Egypt, at a Cultural programme and Reception hosted by Amb Ajit Gupte at 'India House' on 5 Nov 2021. This was first large-scale celebration of an Indian festival in Cairo, after Covid-19 pandemic began. Colourful lights, delicious Indian food, music and firecrackers made the event memorable. An Egyptian cultural troupe 'Team Jazba' and talented members of Indian diaspora regaled the audience with Bollywood dance and music.
Tree Plantation drive at 'Orman Public Park', Cairo on 7 Nov 2021
As part of ongoing celebrations of 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav', Embassy of India in Cairo and Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture & Land Reclamation organized a Tree Plantation drive at 'Orman Public Park' on 7 Nov 2021. Ambassador Ajit Gupte planted 15 saplings with Dr. Saad Moussa, Head, External Agricultural Relations.
'India Day' held at 'Command and Staff College, Cairo' on 16 November 2021
'India Day' was organized in Command & Staff College, Cairo on 16 Nov 2021. Ambassador Ajit Gupte addressed over 500 officers from Egyptian Armed Forces and 20 countries on Indian foreign policy. This was followed by an Indian cultural programme & Food Festival.

Ambassador Ajit Gupte observed Constitution Day by reading Preamble along with Embassy officials. On the occasion, he also pointed out that Indian Constitution had been one of most liberal, ushering in universal adult franchise & guaranteeing religious freedom.

Cycle Rally as part of 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' celebrations
Embassy of India in Cairo organized a Cycle Rally on 25 March 2022 as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations. About 100 cyclists took part, cycling for about 6 kms around Zamalek island in Cairo. Ambassador Ajit Gupte flagged off the Cycle Rally and emphasized the importance of daily exercise for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
