Social Media Campaign and Documentary Screening on Amrit Mahotsav Celebrations organised by HCI, Nicosia (April 2021)

Bilateral Cooperation Webinar, Commemorative Events; Movie Screening and Local Media Publicity events organised during Amrit Mahotsav Celebrations by HCI, Nicosia ( May 2021)

A Webinar was organised on 17 May 2021 on Energy Sector of India and bilateral cooperation between the Cyprus Energy Regulatory Authority (CERA) and NTPC Limited, a Government of India Enterprise. High Commissioner opened the event. 2. A Remembrance event was held on 18 May 2021 in Wayne’s Keep Cemetery Memorial of Indian Soldiers martyred in the II World War, to commemorate India@75 celebrations for martyrs of Indian Independence Movement and to express solidarity with COVID warriors of India and Republic of Cyprus. 3. To celebrate India@75, the High Commission presented a talk on India by Mr. Alexandros Ioannides, Executive Secretary of the Cyprus-India Business Association on 20 May 2021. 4. Online screening of the films “Grassroots to Global” by Neela Venkatraman and “Black Pepper White Pepper” by Ishani K Dutta (XP Division documentary) on the facebook page on 26 May 2021. 5. IDY Celebrations 2021, Cookery show, film screening and various events organised during Amrit Mahotsav Celebrations by HCI, Nicosia (June 08-25, 2021)

1. High Commissioner inaugurated yoga exhibition and yoga practice session with the Mayor, Ms. Photoula Hadjipapa of the Municipality of Lakatamia to celebrate International Day of Yoga 2021 and India@75; 2.Online screening of the films “Yoga aligning to the source” by Shri Raja Choudhury (XP Division documentary) on the facebook page; 3.To celebrate India@75, a message on Yoga and IDY 2021 by High Commissioner was live telecasted on Sigma TV followed by live yoga session, one of the mainstream TV channel of Cyprus; 4. Live Ayurvedic cookery was shown on Sigma TV; 5. At the Temple of Apollo Hylates, Yoga and Meditation session was organized by Yoginspire and Shakti Tribe in association with the High Commission of India, Nicosia. 6.The main event of IDY was celebrated. Foreign Minister of Cyprus, Mr. Nikos Christodulides was the Guest of Honour at the event. This was followed by yoga practice session, based on ‘Common Yoga Protocol’ of Ministry of AYUSH conducted by yoga instructors and a yoga film, titled, “Yoga aligning to the source” was screened; 7.An Indian cultural programme and yoga practice session was organized at Attikon Multi Cultural Space, Paphos, by High Commission of India, Nicosia in association with Indian Classical Music & Arts Cyprus (ICMACY). It was an amazing event in tribute to Indian Culture and the official Yoga Day annual celebration in Paphos, Cyprus, promoting a “Cultural Journey of India beyond boundaries”. A very special performance took place, unique even in India, by award winning painter Debabrata Pal live from Odisha India by live-streaming who painted the theme-concept Raaga Puriya Kalayan and Jugalbandi of music stroke, to performing musicians Kyp Paraskeva on Sitar, Ravi Saundankar playing Tabla and Socrates Efstathiou on Tanpura. The programme commenced with audience participation of yoga practice, followed by meditation by Ravi Saundankar representing a Sahaja yoga meditation experience, and a finale of Indian classical dance by Kaustubhi Reddy just 14 years old, a disciple of Bharatnatyam; 8. Online yoga quiz was organized on Mission’s social media handles; 9. Online yoga posture competition was organized on the Mission’s social media handles; 10. Online practice session on Surya Namaskar was organized on the Mission’s social media handles.

Event on AKAM and role of Indian forces working at the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (02 Sep 2021).

High Commissioner of India, Ms. Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat celebrated India@75-Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav with Ms. Elizabeth Spehar, Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) along with UN Officers and Indian Contingents working at UNFICYP . The event included address by High Commissioner, highlighting the role of Indian forces working at the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus, showcasing videos of AKAM and videos of UNFICYP at the High Commission of India premises (02 September 2021).

The event included address by High Commissioner, highlighting five pillars of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, tree planting, interacting and showcasing videos of AKAM to the children at the shelter of “Hope for Children" premises (26 August 2021).

The High Commissioner of India, Ms. Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat gave opening remarks, Dr. Nasia Hadjigeorgiou, Assistant Professor in Transitional Justice, Human Rights from UClan University gave presentation on Rights of Domestic Workers and a talk was presented by Ms. Stella Katsari, Coordinator of Woman’s House – Domestic Violence Organization. Videos on India75 - Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and videos on Rights of Domestic Workers were screened on 22 August 2021 at High Commission of India premises.

Unity Day and AKAM

High Commission of India, celebrated National Unity Day and India75-Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav at the University of Cyprus. The event was addressed by the High Commissioner, H.E. Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat and Professor Tasos Christofides, Rector of the University of Cyprus highlighting AKAM and the importance of Unity day.A Photo exhibition on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Indian cultural performance were organised at the event on 27 October 2021.

High Commissioner of India H.E Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat hoisted the National Flag on the occasion of 73rd Republic Day of India at the High Commission of India . The Republic Day celebrations included reading out President's address to the Nation and cultural events. The event was attended by Indian diaspora in Cyprus. (26 January 2022)

AKAM & Women's Day Celebrations

The High Commission of India in collaboration with Women of India & Cyprus for Commerce and Industry (WICCI) celebrated AKAM and International Women’s Day at Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry. High Commissioner of India, Ms. Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat highlighted economic, political, social and cultural achievements of women from all walks of life. President of WICCI, Ms. Marina Zevedeou gave opening remarks. (11 March 2022)

AKAM & Dandi March

The High Commission of India in collaboration with Cyprus India Forum Nicosia organised the symbolic “Dandi March” “Salt Satyagraha - The Power of Nonviolent Action” to commemorate the 92nd Anniversary of Salt Satyagraha and it’s contribution in India’s freedom struggle. A five km. long symbolic “Dandi March” commenced from Strovolos Town Hall. High Commissioner of India, Ms. Madhumita Hazarika Bhagat highlighted the significance of AKAM and “Dandi March”. Minister of Energy and Commerce, Industry, Ms Natasa Pilides was the Guest of Honour(13 March 2022).
