Celebration of 75th Independence Day of India

Independence 2.0

Celebration of 75th Independence Day of India. History made in Sao Tome & Principe on 15 August, 2021. The newly established Embassy of India in the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome & Principe celebrated its very first Independence Day at its premises. Ambassador Raghu Gururaj unfurled the National Flag and read out the Address of the President of India. Prizes were awarded to the winners of the essay contest on the topic of "India's Journey as a Developing country since its Independence" as part of the Mission's celebrations on "Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav". The event was attended by over 40 persons, which included the small Indian community of 12 persons and other friends of India.

Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Celebration

Ambassador administered a Pledge on 31 Oct prior to the celebration of Rashtriya Ekat Diwas. He spoke about the contribution of Sardar Vallabhai Patel to the freedom struggle and the eventual unification of all the princely states into a modern unified India. He also reiterated the need to renew efforts to nurture National Unity & Communal Harmony through our thought, expression and action in our daily lives. A biopic on the life and ideals of Sardar Patel was also shown to the Indian community in Sao Tome on the occasion.

6th AYURVEDA DAY

The Embassy celebrated the 6th Ayurveda Day at its premises on 2 November 2021. A photo exhibition highlighting the philosophy, herbal remedies and massage therapy of Ayurveda was displayed. The major daily newspaper STP Press carried a front page article on the Ayurveda Day celebration.
