Embassy organised the following events in MARCH 2021

'India@75 was celebrated by organizing several events in the month of March 2021. Mission also launched social media campaigns on GoI initiatives such as Vaccine Maitri. The book 'Eminescu and India' was launched on 18 March in the National Museum of Romanian Literature. The book, authored by Dr. Amita Bhose, has been published by Cununi de Stele with support of Embassy of India in Bucharest. Ambassador Shrivastava along with the Director of the Museum, Mr. Ioan Cristescu; the Director of Cununi de Stele Publishing House, Ms. Carmen Musat Coman; and the organizer of the event, Ms. Elena Loreta Popa released the book 2..Ambassador Rahul Shrivastava gave an interview to Lumen Publishing House on launch of the book titled ‘Gramatica limbii hindi’ (‘The Grammar of the Hindi Language’), written by Dr. Hilda-Hedvig Varga, philologist and doctor in philosophy on the occasion of India@75. 3.On the occasion of Holi, Ambassador participated in 'Neatza cu Răzvan și Dani' programme on 'Antenna 1' television channel. He talked about Indian culture and the festival of Holi alongwith Romanian singer, Meena Cristiana. 4.Mission also actively published promotional on material on India in local Romanian & Moldovan print and electronic media. This month Mission published articles on (i) Foreign Secretary’s Lecture on ‘Expectations from India in the Emerging World Order Post COVID-19’, Haryana Institute of Public Administration, (ii) No Mystery, Top American Pandemic Expert Lists 9 Govt Actions Behind Plummeting Covid Cases in India, (iii) Statement by EAM in Lok Sabha on ‘Vaccine Maitri Initiative' on 17.3.2021 (iv) Address by External Affairs Minister at the UNSC Open Debate on Implementation of Resolution 2532 (2020).

Embassy organised the following events in APRIL 2021

'India@75 was celebrated by organizing several events in the month of April 2021. (I)An India Centre was inaugurated in the International Free University of Moldova (ULIM), Chisinau to mark India@75 celebrations. Ambassador and Rector of ULIM, Dr. Ilian Galben opened the Centre in the presence of faculty of ULIM. (II)Books on India for use in the Centre have been placed in library of ULIM.Embassy donated books on India to different public libraries in Romania, such as Lucian Blaga Library from Cluj-Napoca, Alexandru si Artistia Aman Library from Craiova, Satu Mare County Library and Gheorghe Asachi Library from Iași County.(III)Ambassador gave an interview to Antena 1 TV for their Observator news programme. He talked about India-Romania cultural cooperation.(IV)Embassy ran a promotional campaign on Indian traditional clothes on its Facebook page.(V)Articles on India were published in local Romanian & Moldovan print and electronic media. Embassy organized the following events in MAY 2021

'As a part of two-year long India@75 celebrations, in the month of May Embassy organized the following: (i) An exhibition of sarees was organized by Embassy in collaboration with the Curtea de Argeș Municipal Museum to commemorate the 75th anniversary of India's Independence. The exhibition continued May 31. Embassy also ran a promotional campaign on Indian traditional clothes on its Facebook page. (ii) Taki Government College (TGC), India and the University of Economic Studies in Bucharest (ASE), Romania hosted an online event in collaboration with the Indian Embassy, Bucharest, to mark the anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore's birth. Ambassador Shrivastava spoke about Rabindranath Tagore's association with Romania. Dr. Biplab Chattopadhyay, Director of Taki Government College and Prof. Dana Radler, Department of Modern Languages & Business Communication of ASE spoke about work of Tagore. Faculty from TGC and ASE recited stanzas from Tagore's poems. (iii) Ayurveda in Romania - Volume 2 was launched by Ambassador Shrivastava and Mr. Andrei Gamulea, President of AMN Romania. The book, in Romanian and English, contains articles about Ayurveda by experts from India and Romania. The launch of the book was attended by 150 doctors, experts and Ayurveda enthusiasts. (iv)Articles on India were published in local Romanian & Moldovan print and electronic media. These included (1) Statement by EAM at the high-level segment of the 46th session of the Human Rights Council (2) Statement by the Foreign Secretary at the Ministerial Segment of the Conference on Disarmament (3) Statement by the Foreign Secretary at the UNSC Summit on "Maintaining International Peace and Security: Supporting Multilateralism and the United Nations-Supported International System"  (4) Discover India- Economic opportunities in Odisha.

Embassy Organized the following events in JUNE 2021

'JUNE 2021 As part of the two-year long India@75 celebrations, in the month of June, the Embassy organized the following events: June 2nd, 2021: The handing over of the certificates of attendance for the online Hindi course organized by the Mission took place in the Embassy. A total of 8 students successfully completed the course, from various cities of Romania. Ambassador interacted with them and aspects of their language learning journey were discussed. The students were gifted a few books that would be useful in improving their grammar and vocabulary knowledge of the Hindi language. (1) June 4th, 2021: A photographic exhibition on India called 'Lens Vision' was inaugurated by Ambassador, Chairman of the Committee for Foreign Policy of the Chamber of Deputies of Romania - Mrs. Rozalia-Ibolya Biro, President of International Association "Euro Foto Art" (AIEFA) - Mr. Ştefan Tóth István and Deputy Director of Oradea City Museum. The Exhibition, which was held in Oradea City Museum – Cultural Complex, was a result of collaboration between AIEFA and Bengal Photography Institute from Kolkata (India). On display were 72 photographs by Mr. Sanjoy Bhattacharya, President of Bengal Photography Institute and members of the Institute. The exhibition remained open till July 6th 2021. (2) June 6th, 2021: Ambassador inaugurated the first AYUSH Information Cell in Bucharest together with Mr. Andrei Gamulea, founder of AMN Romania (National Association for Promotion of Unconventional Medicine, Romania). The site for the AYUSH Information Cell has been provided by AMN Romania. The aim of the Cell is to promote and propagate the knowledge of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy). These philosophies and ways of life contribute to a healthier living by disease prevention and promotion of healthier alternatives. The Cell has books and study material on Ayurveda and audio-visual facility for carrying out both onsite and online seminars and conferences. Approximately 100 Ayurveda doctors and experts joined the inauguration online. (3) June 12th, 2021: Ambassador visited the National Museum of Romanian Literature on the occasion of Noaptea Muzeelor or the Night of the Museums. Along with Mrs. Carmen Mușat-Coman, he paid homage to Dr. Amita Bhose (fondly called Didi), whose works and personal items are on display in a dedicated area of the Museum. Young Romanian scouts were special guests at the event. The special bond between India and Romania was highlighted when speaking about scholars such as Dr. Bose, who tirelessly brought Indian culture closer to the Romanian public through their written work and interactions. Keeping alive such legacy is important both for members of the local community, but also for the Mission. (4) June 18th, 2021: Ambassador gave an interview at Radio Da (Diaspora) for the "Amprenta zilei" program, hosted by Ms. Meena Cristiana Radu. He spoke about the growing Indian community that is present in Romania, about the reasons why Indians may choose Romania as their temporary home, but also about business opportunities in Romania for Indian companies. (5) June 20th-29th, 2021: International Day of Yoga 2021 was celebrated in all three countries, Romania, Moldova and Albania. Events supported by the Embassy took place in several cities, such as Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca and Timisoara for Romania, Chisinau in Moldova and Tirana in Albania. A total number of 13 events were supported by the Mission this year, out of which there were 12 with physical presence and 1 online. Embassy organized the following events in JULY 2021

1. July 2nd, 2021: Ambassador Shrivastava visited three libraries in Dâmbovița County, in Ocnița, Gura Ocniței and Raciu townships. The invitation was extended by Mr. Cătălin Teniță, Deputy in the Parliament of Romania. The programme, aimed at the revival of libraries in Romania, was organised by the local libraries and town halls, supported by EduCab International. In his address at the libraries, Ambassador Shrivastava underlined that the Embassy will partner with the libraries to carry out joint projects in the future. He also emphasized the importance of access to books and knowledge in smaller communities, as this can contribute to the growth and development of every field in society, and, consequently to the increase in the overall quality of life. During the event, Ambassador Shrivastava interacted with the librarians, readers, local community members, Mayors of Gura Ocniței and Raciu, as also with Mr. Daniel Blaga, Deputy and Mr. Dragoș Popescu, Senator from the Parliament of Romania. The Mission is working towards establishing India Corners in the above-mentioned libraries, as well as collaborations with Indian libraries willing to carry out joint projects. 2. July 3rd, 2021: The traditional wear for women across India, the saree, was the center of attention in a very knowledgeable and interactive presentation conceptualized by Mrs. Carmen Coțovanu Pesantez (Euterpe Center of Art) and demonstrated by Ms. Angelica Floareș. The conference, which marked the inauguration of the photo exhibition 'Saree – Tradition and Continuity', was held at the F. Schiller House of Culture, an old collaborator of the Embassy of India and supporter of Indian cultural performances. Ambassador Shrivastava thanked the audience for coming in large numbers. The Director of F. Schiller House of Culture, Mrs. Mariana Duliu, was happy to receive Ambassador Shrivastava and, thus, renew the bond of mutual respect and cooperation that exists between the Embassy and the cultural center. Mrs. Pesantez eloquently presented stories comprised from the epic Mahabharata, as well as from legends and folk tales that shed light on the history of this unique garment. Having included details about types of sarees, ways of draping them, the significance of jewelry and its connection to the energetic points in the body (the chakras), Mrs. Pesantez enriched the exposition, making it enlightening in many respects. Ambassador Shrivastava thanked organizers and collaborators for their efforts and keen interest in Indian culture. The photo exhibition featuring different ways of draping a saree was open until July 30th. 3. July 13th, 2021: ‘Indian Kaleidoscope’ - An exhibition of Indian sarees and Indian ornaments was inaugurated in the presence of Ambassador Shrivastava in the Curtea de Argeș Municipal Museum. The Mayor, Mr. Constantin Panțurescu, the Director of the Museum, Mr. Gabriel Moisescu, former Director and Vice-Mayor of Curtea de Argeș, Mr. Ștefan Dumitrache welcomed the distinguished guests and members of the public. Ambassador Shrivastava noted, with thanks, that it is the second time that the traditional Indian wear for women is being showcased in the city and the museum, this time with an addition of some ornaments that provide the public a taste of the entirety of Indian feminine bedecking. He highlighted the fact that not many people in the world use the traditional costume on a daily basis, but that does not stand true for India, as women everywhere around the country can be seen wearing colourful sarees. He thanked everyone involved in the endeavour, especially Mrs. Ioana Duță for the lovely graphics and gift, and expressed his gratitude towards the public for coming in large numbers on a working day. 4. July 22nd, 2021: A thematic presentation, with online participation, took place at the ‘Octavian Goga’ County Library in Cluj-Napoca, entitled "Shad-Padartha – the set of principles of esoteric knowledge in Ayurveda". The event was organized under the auspices of the Ayush Information Center in Bucharest – Ayus Grup and in collaboration with the National Association for the Promotion of Unconventional Medicines - AMN-Romania. The presentation was made by Mr. Andrei Gămulea and by Mrs. Aurora Nicolae, coordinators of Ayurveda courses within AMN-Romania. Ambassador Shrivastava was present at the event as guest of honour, appreciating both the interest and the constant attention of the organizers and participants for the systematic and in-depth study of the traditional Science of Life (Ayurveda) within the specialized training activities and Ayurveda courses organized in Romania through AMN-Romania. 5. July 23rd, 2021: The collective volume entitled "Tribute to Rabindranath Tagore" ("Omagiu lui Rabindranath Tagore") was launched at the Casino Urban Cultural Center in Cluj-Napoca. It encompasses personal experiences of the contributors, either from the point of view of having travelled to and having lived in India, or as readers of Tagore’s works. The event was organized by Dr. Mihaela Gligor, Director of Cluj Center for Indian Studies and editor of the volume. 6. A quiz on Indian Heritage was organized in the month of July by the Mission. Winners received certificates, prizes in cash and books. 7. Articles on India that were published in local Romanian & Moldovan print and electronic media: (1) The Technology Powerhouse.
