Celebration of International Women’s Day : Launch of Indian Women in Enterprise (I-WE)

Embassy supported an event organised by I-WE to celebrate the International Women’s Month. A panel discussion was organized on the topic : “The Societal impact of Enterprising and Empowered Women”

Eyes on Asia: India

The Embassy in collaboration with Asia Society Philippines organized Eyes on Asia which aimed to highlight and promote understanding of an Asian country through its culture, and art. The event program included discussions on Yoga and Indian cuisine.

Montañosa Film Festival

The Embassy participated in the 1st edition of Montañosa Film Festival at Baguio City. Three Bollywood Films namely: “Mary Kom,” “Queen,” and “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag” were screened at prominent hotels in Baguio City.

Navotsava– A celebration of Indian New Year

In collaboration with Indian Cultural Association of the Philippines the Embassy organised a virtual celebration bringing out the variety of traditions from different parts of India.

Ambassador Shambhu S. Kumaran addressed the students of Miriam College in the Philippines highlighting the key drivers of India's foreign policy and Indo-Pacific strategy.

Yoga for Wellness

The Embassy organised a Week-long Virtual Yoga Retreat with 7 leading yoga teachers/practitioners in the Philippines providing participants a unique opportunity to discover various aspects of yoga. The Embassy had also collaborated with various organisations in organising similar events in celebration of IDY 2021.

IDY Celebration in Palau

In Palau, the Embassy in collaboration with the Honorary Consulate of India to Palau and with the support of the Office of the Ministry of State of the Republic of Palau organised a live yoga demonstration event held at Ngarachamayong Cultural Center, Koror on 20 June and was attended by a hundred of yoga enthusiasts from the Diplomatic community in Palau, locals and members of other nationalities in Palau.

IDY Celebration in Micronesia (FSM)

In Micronesia (FSM), the Embassy organised the 1st ever Virtual Yoga Celebration on 20-21 June which was led by a Hawaii-based yoga teacher and founder of a yoga empowerment project in Kosrae. The sessions were streamed on the IDY Facebook page of the Mission.

Online course on Gandhian Philosophy

The Embassy in collaboration with Indian Council For Cultural Relations organized a course on Gandhian Philosophy conducted by the renowned Gandhian scholar, Dr. Shobhana Radhakrishna. A total of 27 participants from the Philippines participated.

ITEC alumni shared their experiences being part of the ITEC programme and how it helped them with their respective careers. More than that, the ITEC alumni had also emphasized their experiences learning about Indian culture for the duration of their stay in India.

Indian Diaspora in the Philippines celebrates Hindi Day and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav through their beautiful rendition of Hindi patriotic songs.

Teachers Day

Filipino students pay tribute to the role Indian teachers have played in their lives. Indian students in the Philippines pay tribute to social reformers/freedom fighters of India who were teachers by profession.

KATUTUBO KALA Art Workshop

An initiative by Bharati Manila supported by the Embassy, the program includes a panel discussion on "the Mahatma, the Native Art, and the India-Philippine Connect" and an art workshop for Indian native art forms.

Grand Opening of Likha Bazaar

The Embassy supported Indian Women in Enterprise (I-WE)'s Likha Bazaar which aims to celebrate and promote Indian and Filipino traditional handicrafts, arts, apparel and textiles. The bazaar was launched on the occasion Gandhi Jayanti emphasizing Gandhi's support for locals.

Ayurveda Day 2021: Online Lecture Series

The Embassy organised an Online Lecture Series on Ayurveda led by Indian and Filipino Ayurvedic practitioners and experts to make Ayurveda more accessible to the Filipinos. The topics of the lectures focused on the benefits of 'Ayurveda for Nutrition', the theme of the 6th Ayurveda Day.

Diwali Festival 2021

The Embassy supported the initiative of the Indian local diaspora organisations in celebrating the spirit of Diwali with the Filipino community in the Cities in the National Capital Region. Members of the Indian Community, Embassy officials along with the City officers lit Diya lamps and formed it to the shape of number 75 to highlight the 75th Independence Day.

Constitution Day 2021

In celebration of Constitution Day, the Embassy had organised various interviews/special features on leading TV networks in the Philippines on the significance of the Indian constitution in deepening of democracy as well as some other interesting facts about India in general which aims to introduce Indian culture and history to the local audience.

Republic Day Function 2022

The Embassy hosted a Republic Day function at India House, Manila. On the occasion, Ambassador Shambhu S. Kumaran unfurled the national flag and read the Hon. President of India's message to the nation. Moreover, poetry and song presentations added patriotic fervour to the celebrations.

Cultural Programme on Women's Day

A cultural programme based on the theme of Women's Day was organised by Bharati Manila- Indian Expat Women's Association of the Philippines on 7 March 2022.

Launch of "Tech2Transform" an initiative to digitally empower women in MSMEs in the Philippines

On 12 March 2022, the Indian Women in Enterprise (I-WE), Philippines (Indian diaspora organisation) supported by the Embassy launched 'Tech2Transform' - a digital series that aims to empower women-led MSMEs in the Philippines. The inauguration was addressed by Ambassador Shambhu Kumaran and Hon. Sandra S. Montano - Chairperson of the Philippine Commission on Women.

ITEC Day Reception 2022

ITEC Day was organised on 29 March, celebrating the growing India-Philippines partnership in training & capacity building. Ambassador Shambhu Kumaran, Secretary Isidro S. Lapeña, DG TESDA , Mr. Renato Ebarle, Usec Department of Labor and Employment - DOLE and Commo Donn Anthony Miraflor, Deputy Chief of Staff Armed Forces of the Philippines at the event. Over 100 civilian and defence ITEC alumni as well as government training partners from the Philippines attended the event. ITEC alumni shared their experiences & relevance of training at premier Indian training institutes.

Launch of "Kwentong Jatataka" podcast

The Embassy publicly launched the "Kwentong Jatataka" podcast- a project produced by the Embassy in partnership with Areté Ateneo, on 31 May. This project comprising of 12 short and engaging stories in podcast format consists of stories from the Jataka Tales translated in to Filipino. The podcasts are available for free on the website and YouTube Channel of the Embassy, website of Areté Ateneo as well as on Spotify and Apple podcasts.
