To mark India@75, a Life size ICE Sculpture of TAJ MAHAL was installed in Sukhbaatar Square

To commemorate the 75th anniversary of India's Independence and 67th anniversary of India-Mongolia Diplomatic relations, a larger than life Ice Sculpture of TAJ MAHAL, one of the 7 wonders of world, was inaugurated by Ms Ch Nomin, Minister of Culture and H.E. Mr M P Singh, Ambassador of India to Mongolia at the Sukhbaatar Square today January 18, 2022. The replica of this architectural wonder and an eternal monument of love, is sculpted by a famous Mongolian Ice Sculpturist that will continue to be on display until after Tsagaan Sar till end February, 2022. 2. Taj Mahal, considered as a pinnacle of Indian Mughal architecture style, was built by the Emperor Shah Jahan (1628-1658) in memory of his beloved queen ‘Mumtaz Mahal’. Located in Agra (India), on the bank of the river Yamuna, the monument is a spectacle in white marble, unparalleled in grandeur that depicts the sheer opulence of an era. For its construction, masons, stone cutters, in-layers, carvers, painters, calligraphers, dome-builders and other artisans were requisitioned from the whole of the Mughal empire at that time and also from the Central Asia and Iran. India’s most famous architectural wonder was completed in 1648 after 17 years of construction. 3. This iconic world tourist spot, a UNESCO World Heritage, is visited annually by about 7-8 million visitors including 1 foreign tourist. Embassy of India announced a ‘Selfie Contest’ and invites visitors to Click a Selfie with the 'Ice Sculpture of Taj Mahal' and post on the Facebook/ Twitter/Instagram of ‘India in Mongolia’ to win attractive prizes.
