Inaugural Celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav by CGI Hambantota (April 2021)

'Consulate General of India, Hambantota held the inaugural celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate the 75th Independence Day on 01st April, 2021 by organizing a tree planting ceremony at Labuduwa, Galle. Consul General, Mr. Dipin P.R and Chief Secretary of Southern Province, Mr. R.C. de Zoysa together planted a sapling at Chief Secretary’s residence premises and distributed more than 100 of saplings to the Officials of Chief Secretariat.

Essay competition and Inaugural event for Amrit Mahotsav Celebrations organised by CGI, Hambantota (April 2021)

Blood donation camp and World Environment day organised during Amrit Mahotsav Celebrations by CGI, Jaffna (April , 7-22,2021)

As a part of celebration of India@75, CGI Jaffna organized a blood donation camp on World Health Day i.e. 07.04.2021 in which 13 officials voluntarily donated blood. The Post celebrated the World Environment Day 2021 i.e. 22.04.2021 in the spirit of India@75 with ‘no electricity use’ for one hour and planting of saplings.

1. AHCI, Kandy organised Rangoli competition in collaboration with Padyanjali Hindi Niketan, Kurunegala. IDY Celebrations, and Social Media Campaign organised during Amrit Mahotsav Celebrations by AHCI, Kandy (June 20, 2021)

1. Evening virtual event in collaboration with Alliance Francaise de Kandy. A social media campaign was organised on Facebook and Twitter. It generated 3, 55,943 impressions and 18,676 engagements. Videos of famous celebrities talking about their experiences on Yoga and how yoga has helped them in fitness were shared. Post ran targeted social media campaigns, contests and thematic discussions. Short videos of celebrities having large following on social media handles were recorded and shared on social media.

IDY celebrations, food distribution and charity event and Essay competition organised during Amrit Mahotsav Celebrations by CGI Hambantota (June , 2021)

1.The post in collaboration with local yoga training institute celebrated the main event of 7th IDY on 22nd June 2021 with the theme "Yoga For Wellness" in virtual mode. 2. An essay competition for Sri Lankan university students & a logo design open competition for general public was also organized as part of IDY 2021 celebration. 3. As a part of India@ 75 celebrations the post together with Divisional Secretariat Galle distributed dry ration and essential materials to the needy families affected by floods and Corona pandemic in Galle.

Flag hoisting ceremony held at India House , Colombo

Due to increasing cases of COVID-19 in Sri Lanka, flag hoisting by High Commissioner of India at 'India House' was held in strict compliance of Covid protocols and was attended only by DA, ADA and security contingent, in person. All other officers, staff and Indians attended the event virtually. High Commissioner also laid wreath at the Indian Peace Keeping Forces memorial.

Continuing the commemoration of 152nd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi which fell on October 02, 2021 and the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mohotsav’, Foreign Secretary Shri Shringla, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Fisheries and State Minister of Estate Housing & Community garlanded the bust of Gandhiji placed at Temple Trees, recalling his message of peace and non-violence.

As a part of the celebrations of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the 90th Birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, former President of India was celebrated following the COVID-19 guidelines on October 15, 2021. Consul General Raakesh Natraj paid floral tributes to his busts at the India Corner, Jaffna Public Library. Northern Provincial Council Chairman Mr. C V K Sivagnanam, Hon’ble Mayor of Jaffna V. Manivannan similarly garlanded the busts of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and paid him floral tributes. 2. Consul General in his introductory remarks, remembered scientific contributions of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and highlighted his ideas, innovations that have changed the Indian Space sector and how his teaching methods continues to ignite young minds across the world. Students at the India Corner recited poems of Dr. Abdul Kalam on the occasion.

As part of the celebrations of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Consulate General of India, Jaffna coinciding with the National Unity Day to mark the 146th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel, organized a “Cycle for Unity” programme this morning (October 26, 2021). 2. The officials of the consulate cycled from the Consulate building to Sivapoomi temple (an adobe of Lord Shiva) under Sivapoomi Trust at Navatkuli. This is the part of a series of events that Consulate General of India, Jaffna is organizing to celebrate 75 years of Indian independence. Consulate General of India, Jaffna had also organized a Blood Donation Camp earlier in April this year.

Launching ceremony of "Siddha for all" campaign in Jaffna on Universal Health Coverage Day.

As part of the activities to commemorate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Consulate General of India, Jaffna along with Provincial Department of Indigenous Medicine, Northern Province jointly launched “Siddha For All” campaign across the Northern Province of Sri Lanka on “Universal Health Coverage Day” i.e 12th December, 2021. The campaign makes available medical advice and Siddha medicines for various ailments along with routine health checkups free of cost. 2. Commencing the campaign, a Siddha Medical Camp was organized at Chankanai Cultural Hall, Jaffna today. The inauguration ceremony began with lighting of lamp by Mr. Raakesh Natraj, Hon’ble Consul General, Mr. P. Senthilnanthanan, Secretary, Ministry of Health, Indigenous Medicine and Probation and Childcare Services, Dr.(Mrs.) K. Jebanamaganeshan, Commissioner, Provincial Department of Indigenous Medicine, Northern Province, Mr. T.Nadanendran, Chairman, Valikamam West Pradeshiya Sabha, Chulipuram, Ms. K. Senthuran Assistant Divisional Secretary, Chankanai, Jaffna along with Community Medical Officers & Siddha doctors. 3. Being an open-access camp, with no prior registration required, the medical camp attracted an overwhelming response. More than 130 patients from all age categories visited the camp and received medical advice and Siddha medicines for their ailments. Siddha is a traditional medicinal system & offers holistic health management to all by emphasizing on dietetics and nutrition, lifestyle management, rejuvenation therapy, geriatric care, mother and child care along with other preventive and curative measures, which could be of especial use during the current COVID pandemic.

Organzation of the Second free Siddha Medical Camp under the banner of "Siddha for all" campaign.

As part of the activities to commemorate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Consulate General of India, Jaffna along with Provincial Department of Indigenous Medicine, Northern Province jointly organized the second Siddha Medical Camp at Bharathipuram Maha Vidyalayam, Kilinochchi on 19th December 2021 under the banner of ‘Siddha for all” campaign. The medical camp attracted an overwhelming response. 234 patients from all age categories including the beneficiaries of Indian Housing Projects in Sri Lanka visited the camp and received free medical advice, free health checkups and free Siddha medicines for their ailments.

International Quiz on Buddhism and Buddhist Heritage

The High Commission of India in Colombo has launched a quiz competition in Sri Lanka focusing on the life of The Buddha and various sites/places associated with Buddhism, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the State Ministry of Dhamma School, Piriven & Bhikku Education of Sri Lanka. The 3rd round of the International Buddhism Quiz organized on 29th December ,2021

World Hindi Day ( Viswa Hindi Diwas )

Commemoration of WorldHindiDay in SriLanka. A special Proficiency Course in hindi was launched for SriLanka Police on the occasion, which was attended by around 70 senior police officers in Sri Lanka on 10.01.2022 at Colombo. Acting HC Vinod K. Jacob read out special messages from PM Narendra Modi and EAM DrSJaishankar. MOS Meenakshi Lekhi and High Commissioner delivered video messages.

National Youth Day : As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, HCI Colombo organized National Youth Day on 12 January 2022 with Acting High Commissioner paying tribute to Swami Vivekanand along with officials . The links of the inaugural function of the 25th National Youth Festival by Hon’ble Prime Minister were also shared extensively on social media. A moving Tribute to Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar in SriLanka. Deputy High Commissioner Vinod K. Jacob was the Chief Guest at the musical tribute by SriLankan singers to the legendary singer. Shankar Jai Kishan ,Pushpanjali - 11 a Hindi Musical Programme was held at The auditorium of the Ministry of Disaster Management on Saturday 12.2.22 by High Commsion of india in collaboration with Bharatlanka Kala Padanama under the Grant in Aid programme of ministry of Culture . The event was the part of celebrateion of 75 years of India's independence and achievements under the banner of 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav' & the event was attended around 200 persons.

As part of the festivities under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Officers & personnel of Consulate General of India, Jaffna and Representative of Army Officers of 512 Brigade played together a friendly Volleyball series on 19th February, 2022. 2. Consul General Shri Raakesh Natraj and Lieutenant Colonel KC Jagath Kumara NCC, Civil Affairs Coordinating Officer, 512 Infantry Brigade jointly kick-started the series by serving the ball. GAT Godewatte RWP RSP, Commander also attended the event. Consul General Shri Raakesh Natraj also gave away trophies to both teams as a memento. 3. The relationship between two countries is more than 2500 years old and activities like these would further cement the bonds of friendship between India and Sri Lanka.

The Consulate organized special Alms (Dana) giving ceremony for the Buddhist Monk in Hambantota Nibbaramaya Temple to invoke blessings of the Noble Triple Gems for the health and well-being of people of Sri Lanka & India on 15th August 2021. Prayers and blessings chanting were also performed for the continued strong, friendly and bilateral relations between Sri Lanka & India.

Karthik Deepa Puja (November 2021) - CGI Hambantota

Celebrating 75 years of India’s Independence “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”, Consulate General of India, Hambantota organized a special event on the occasion of Karthikai Deepa Puja at Sri Muththumariyamman Kovil Monaragala on 18th November 2021. Along with the special event, a Photo exhibition of Tourist Destination in the state of Tamilnadu was also held at the venue. Documentary videos of Tamilnadu and many other multimedia videos were also screened on the occasion to highlight the rich heritage of the state of Tamilnadu.

Inauguration of R.K Narayan English Activity Room at Madawalana Maha Vidyalaya, Thissamaharama (November 2021) - CGI Hambantota

Continuing its supports to schools in Southern Province & Monaragala district in Sri Lanka to encourage the developing soft skills of primary school children, Consul General of India, Hambantota, Mr. Dipin P.R inaugurated the English activity room at Madawalana Maha Vidyalaya, established under the aegis of Consulate General of India Hambantota on 23rd November 2021. The English activity room has been named after the famous Indian writer Mr. R.K Narayan. Mr. Nalan Jyasekara, the Principal of Madawalana Maha, Teachers & Students were present during the inauguration ceremony.

Inauguration of Practice Side Wicket at Debarawawa & Presenting Sports Items to Debarawewa National School (November / December 2021) - CGI Hambantota

Consul General of India, Hambantota, Mr. Dipin P.R inaugurated a practice side wicket at Debarawewa, established under the support of Consulate General of India Hambantota on 27th November 2021. Many cricket enthusiast, sports club members & students from nearby schools were present during the inauguration ceremony. On 20th December 2021 Consul General also presented sports items such as Cricket Kits, Volleyballs, and Netballs to Debarawewa National School to encourage the abiding interest in Cricket among the Cricket enthusiast in Debarawewa Southern Province in Sri Lanka.

AKAM –Zero Five Premier League – 2021 (December 2021) - CGI Hambantota

As a part of celebrating 75 years of India’s Independence (Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav) Consulate General of India, Hambantota in association with 05 Group - Old Boy Association of Mahinda College organized “AKAM –Zero Five Premier League – 2021 ” cricket tournament on 11th December 2021 at Kumme Public Ground, Baddegama. Total Six Cricket teams representing the 05 Group of All Boy Association took part in the tournament. The Tournament was won by Team Grizzly Bears from Galle and the all the winners were presented with trophies by Consul General Mr. Dipin P.R.

AKAM Indian Musical Evening (December 2021) - CGI Hambantota

As a part of celebrating 75 years of India’s Independence (Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav) Consulate General of India, Hambantota in association with Southern Provincial Ministry of Sports, Youth Affairs & Culture organized “Indian Musical Evening” on 17th December 2021 at main auditorium of Dakshinapaya Complex Labuduwa, Galle. The “Indian Musical Evening” was performed by Sri Lanka Broadcast Corporation led by veteran music director Mr. W.J Upali. The occasion was graced by the Southern Provincial governor Hon’ble (Dr). Willie Gamage, Mr. Bimal Indrajith De Silva, Secretary of Southern Provincial Ministry of Sports, Youth Affairs & Culture. Senior Officials from all the other ministries attended the function.

Consulate General of India, Hambantota organized an Indian Trade Bazaar at Hambantota District Secretariat premises on 22nd December 2021 to showcase Indian food & leather products and to promote new business opportunities targeting Sri Lankan businessmen & customers. Consul General Mr. Dipin P.R along with Hambantota District Secretary Mr. Priyantha Sumanasekara inaugurated the Indian Trade Bazaar.

AKAM –Hambantota District Sevens Football Tournament (December 2021) - CGI Hambantota

Consulate General of India, Hambantota in association with Hambantota Football Academy Sports Club organized “AKAM –Hambantota District Sevens Football Tournament” on 25th December 2021 at the Lanka Salt Limited, Playground Hambantota. Football teams from different parts of Hambantota District participated in the event. The Championship was won by Hambantota Football Academy Team and the winners were presented with trophies & awards by Consul General Mr. Dipin P.R. in the presence of the Special Guest Mr. Priyantha Sumanasekara Hambantota District Secretary who also gave the awards to the winners.

Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas 2022 (January 2022) - CGI Hambantota

Post celebrated Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) on 9th January 2022 at Mirijjawila Export Processing Zone (EPZ) with Indian diaspora comprising working mass. Consular officer interacted with and highlighted the measures taken by Ministry of External Affairs to help Indian citizens abroad. Special emphasis was put on explaining the importance and the benefits of ICWF Fund and Global Pravasi Rishta Portal.

Consulate General of India, Hambantota celebrated the 73rd Republic Day of India on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at the Consulate premises in Hambantota with great patriotic zeal and fervor. The event commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by Consul General Mr. Dipin P.R followed by the singing of the National Anthem. Many distinguished personalities, including, District Secretary, Deputy Mayor, Naval Commander of Kavanthissapura Naval Base, Senior Government officials, Local police officials, officials from Hambantota Chamber of Commerce, representatives of hospitals etc. participated in the flag hoisting ceremony.

Third free Siddha Medical Camp at Visuvamadu Central Community Centre, Mullaitivu on 27th February, 2022

1. As part of the activities to commemorate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Consulate General of India, Jaffna along with Provincial Department of Indigenous Medicine, Northern Province jointly organized the third free “Siddha Medical Camp” at Visuvamadu Central Community Centre, Mullaitivu on 27th February, 2022 under the banner of ‘Siddha for all” campaign. 2. The medical camp attracted an overwhelming response. A total of 135 patients from all age categories visited the camp and received free medical advice, free health check-ups and free Siddha medicines for their ailments. 3. The ceremony was concluded by the address of Shri Raakesh Natraj, Hon’ble Consul General who emphasized the role of Siddha medicines in revitalizing and rejuvenating dysfunctional organs and detailed the benefits of the holistic approach of Siddha system of medicines. The concluding ceremony was co-chaired by (Mrs.) K. Jebanamaganeshan, Commissioner, Provincial Department of Indigenous Medicine, Northern Province and well attended by more than 75 people including Community Medical Officers & Siddha doctors.

Celebrations of Mahashivaratri at Eezhathu Chidambaram Temple, Karainagar, Jaffna

1. As part of festivities Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Consulate General of India, Jaffna celebrated Mahashivatari at Eezhathu Chidambaram Temple, Karainagar, Jaffna on 01st March, 2022. 2. As part of the celebrations, Hon’ble Consul General Shri Raakesh Natraj along with the Consulate staff offered a prayer for the well being of the people of India and Sri Lanka. Later, the Consulate set-up a community kitchen at the temple premises where Consul General & Consulate staff prepared and served “Sacred Food” to more than 400 devotees of the shrine.

It was organized in collaboration with the State Ministry of Dhamma Schools, Pirivenas and Bhikku Education on 01st February 2022 as a part of celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

Artificial Limb Fitment Camp - by HCI , Colombo

A Camp to provide artificial limbs was jointly inaugurated Honourable Chamal Rajapaksa, Minister of Irrigation and State Minister of National Security & Disaster Management and State Minister of Home Affairs; and Chair of the India-Sri Lanka Parliamentary Friendship Association, and High Commissioner of India to Colombo Gopal Baglay on 2 February 2022 at the Ranaviru Seva Authority premises in Gampaha. Long celebrations to mark Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ (75 years of India’s Independence) which commenced with the 73rd Republic Day celebrations on 26 January 2022. The Artificial Limb Fitment Camp exemplifies Government of India’s guiding philosophy in developmental partnership with Sri Lanka – of making a palpable impact to the lives of the people of Sri Lanka in accordance with the priorities of the Government of Sri Lanka. 3. Bust of Nobel Laureate Gurudev Rabindranath unveiled at Sri Palee Campus of the University of Colombo on 03rd February 2022 To commemorate the 100th year of arrival of Nobel Laureate Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore to Sri Lanka, the University of Colombo in collaboration with the High Commission of India, Colombo, organized a special ceremony to unveil the bust of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore at the Sri Palee Campus of the University on 03rd February 2022. The Chief Guest, Hon. Prof. G. L. Peiris, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka, along with the Guests of Honour Shri Gopal Baglay, High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka and Hon. Vidura Wickremanayaka, State Minister of National Heritage, Performing Arts, and Rural Promotions, unveiled and garlanded the bust of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore in the presence of Prof. Chandrika N. Wijeyaratne, Vice-Chancellor, University of Colombo, and distinguished officers, staff and students of the university. This bronze bust of Tagore has been gifted by Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.

Under the title of The Scholarly Discourse on Indian Literature' the second lecture was held on Feb 28th 2022 at the Centre for Contemporary Indian Studies, University of Colombo to mark the 10th anniversary of the CCIS and the 75th anniversary of the Independence of India . Deputy High Commissioner, Shri Vinod K. 8th International Day of Yoga Celebrations in Colombo

High Commission of India in Colombo organized a mega event under the theme “Yoga for Humanity” at Independence Square in Colombo to mark the 8th International Day of Yoga on 21 June 2022. The Chief Guest, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, H.E. Ranil Wickremesinghe was welcomed by Acting High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka, Mr. Vinod K. Jacob. Hon'ble Ministers Susil Premajayantha, Vidura Wickramanayaka, Kanchana Wijesekera, and Roshan Ranasinghe, Parliamentarians Mano Ganesan, M. A. Sumanthiran, and Palani Digambaram, and several dignitaries and religious leaders attended the event, which saw an enthusiastic participation of over 400 guests, including yoga practitioners, Indian diaspora, and numerous school children and teachers. On 20th January 2022, Assistant High Commission of India, Kandy organized a Rangoli Competition at 2nd floor of Kandy City Center (KCC), Kandy. Mr. Gamini Rajarathna, Chief Secretary of Central Province & Mrs. Indumini Menikdiwela, Assistant Chief Secretary graced the occasion and congratulated the winners & participants. Indian Film Festival in Central Province (Kandy, Matale and NuwaraEliya - during AKAM special week 19-25 January 2022) - AHCI, Kandy

Assistant High Commission of India, Kandy organized ‘Indian Film Festival’ in Central province of Sri Lanka (Kandy, Matale & Nuwara Eliya). In Kandy, films were screened in two sessions (morning and afternoon) at Hindu Cultural Hall Kandy. Prof. M. D. Lamawansa, Vice Chancellor of University of Peradeniya inaugurated the morning session of Indian Film festival in Kandy. In Matale, film was screened at auditorium of Mahatma Gandhi International Centre, Matale and in Nuwara Eliya at the auditorium of Central Library. Indian cinema lovers enjoyed watching of the Indian films at all 03 places. In total around 1000 people watched the films.

On 24th January 2022, An "Awareness Campaign on the Services from AHCI" on Scholarships, Hindi & Fine Arts classes, Visa & OCI related services was organized in virtual mode by Assistant High Commission of India, Kandy. Nearly 100 participants attended the virtual webinar including Mr. Gamini Rajaratne, Chief Secretary of Central Province, Mrs, Shirley Jayawardena, President of Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industries Sri Lanka (FCCISL), Mr. Chandana Wickramasooriya, Deputy Chief Secretary of Central Province, professionals, teachers and students.

Indian Dance Festival (during AKAM special week 19-25 January) - AHCI, Kandy

The week long celebrations concluded with felicitating the winners of ‘Rangoli Competition’ and ‘Indian Dance Festival’ on 25th January 2022 at the auditorium of Assistant High Commission of India, Kandy. Top three teams of Rangoli Competition and top five winners of Indian Dance Festival were awarded with cash prizes and certificates. Indian dance festival entries were invited through virtual mode only.

“Divyanubhuti : experience of the divine” - Odissi dance programme at Dharmaraja College auditorium - AHCI, Kandy

Organized an Odissi Dance Programme “Divyanubhuti – experience of the divine” by a re-nowned Odissi dancer Ms. Moumita Ghosh and her troupe, to celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) and 73rd Republic Day of India on 1st February 2022 at Dharmaraja College, Kandy. The event was graced by higher dignitaries, Politicians, Actors and friends of Indian Culture of the ju-risdictions of AHCI, Kandy. This two hours programme was much appreciated by nearly 500 people of audience.

World Hindi Day at Grand Kandyan Hotel, Kandy - AHCI, Kandy

World Hindi Day celebrated on 16th February 2022 at Grand Kandyan Hotel, Kandy. The event attended by the Chief Guest Dr. Sampath Fernando, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences and Languages at Sabaragamuwa University & Guests of Honour, Dr. Mahesh Hapugoda, Head of the Department, Department of Languages of Sabaragamuwa University, Dr. Sudesh Mantillake, Head of the Department, Department of Fine Arts, University of Peradeniya, Dr. Wajira Gunasena, Lecture in Hindi Language, University of Sri Jayawardhanapura and Mr. Bresil Nagoda Vithana, Lecturer in Hindi Language, Sabaragumawa University. 14 Hindi teachers were awarded ‘Hindi Prachar Prasar Samman’ for contributing in propagation and promotion of Hindi language in Sri Lanka. Winners of various Hindi competitions were awarded with certificates of appreciation as well as cash prizes.

ITEC Day celebrations at Mahaweli Reach Hotel, Kandy - AHCI, Kandy

HINDI DIWAS CELEBRATIONS

Hindi Diwas was celebrated on 14 September 2022 with great zeal and fervour at the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC), cultural arm of High Commission of India, Colombo. High Commissioner Gopal Baglay was the Chief Guest at the event, which saw participation of around 75 Hindi enthusiasts, scholars, teachers and students from all over Sri Lanka.

8th International Day of Yoga Celebration - CGI Hambantota

 To mark the 8th International Day of Yoga a week long celebrations were organized in Galle, Matara, Hambantota & Monaragala Districts from 15th – 24th June 2022. About 1000 participants, including teachers, students, Pradeshiya Sabha Members, Government Employees from various school/institutes/ offices joined the event. Renowned Ayurvedic experts Prof. R.S Jayawardena Sayakkara, former Director & Professor of Institute of Indigenous Medicine, University of Colombo & Dr. Ruwan Raigamkorala, Nutritional Counselor, Lecturer in Pharmacy & Senior Medical officer of Aparakka Ayurveda Hospital shared their in depth expertise about how Yoga combined with Ayurveda can do wonders for the longevity of human life.

Blood Donation Camp at Consulate General of India, Hambantota

Celebrating AKAM as well as coinciding with World Blood Donor’s Day celebrated on 14th June, CGI, Hambantota in association with Hambantota Blood Bank organized a Blood Donation Camp on 28th June 2022 at the Consulate Library Hall. ITEC Day 2022 - CGI Hambantota (September 2022)

On 28th September 2022, CGI Hambantota celebrated the ITEC Day2022 at Weligama Bay Marriott Resort & Spa marking the 58 glorious years of ITEC programme launched by the Govt. of India on 15th Sept 1964. As a part of celebrating Amrit Mahotsav & Gandhi Jayanti 2022 CGI Hambantota organized a theatrical stage drama titled Mahatma@Gandhi.Com directed by Prof. Upul Ranjith in association with University of Ruhuna, Matara on 5th October 2022 at Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Auditorium at University of Ruhuna. The occasion was graced by Hon. 7th Ayurveda Day Celebration - CGI Hambantota (October 2022)

To commemorate the 7th Ayurveda Day as a Part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Celebration, the Consulate General of India, Hambantota organized a special Ayurveda Week on the theme “Ayurveda Everyday, Ayurveda Everywhere” for officials of Galle, Matara, Hambantota & Monaragala District Secretariats from 18th -21st October. With the objective of spreading awareness about Ayurveda for better health and living one programme in each district was organized during the Ayurveda Week. Dr. R.G.S Saranga, Dr.Sampath Aththanayake, Dr. Ruwan Raigamkoralage & Dr. A.L.D.P Liyanage renowned ayurvedic practitioners of Southern Province shared their expertise with the participants about the importance of ayurvedic concept of holistic health and its benefits for a healthy living.

Tourism Interactive Session at Monaragala - CGI Hambantota (October 2022)

Celebrating 75 years of India’s Independence Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Consulate General of India Hambantota organized a special interactive session with Tourist organizations in Monaragala District on19th October 2022 and also as part of State Facilitation Aborad scheme of Ministry. The session was focused on various tourist attractions in State of Bihar & Uttar Pradesh in India especially on Buddhist Circuit & Handicraft Products in the both states. The Interactive session was attended by many tourist organizations from Monaragala District and the Consulate’s effort on organizing the event was greatly appreciated by the stakeholders of tourism industry in Monaragala District.

Rashtriya Ekta Diwas 2022 - CGI Hambantota (October 2022)

On the occasion of celebrating Rashrtiya Ekta Diwas under AKAM coinciding with 147th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel, Consulate General of India, Hambantota organized a Unity Walk & a Photo Exhibition titled Sardar Patel – The Architect of Unification The Unity Walk was organized on 31st October 2022 and was flagged off by Consul Shri. Atul Aggarwal, from Hambantota District Chamber of Commerce and ended at the Consulate Premises. Many officials from Hambantota District Chamber of Commerce, Coconut Cultivation Board, Hatton National Bank, Women's Development Federation participated in the Unity Walk. Our officials and friends of India, few people of Indian Diaspora also participated in the Walk. At the Consulate premises an exhibition on “Sardar Patel – The Architect of Unification” depicting Sardar Patel’s journey for the Unification of the Nation was also organized. At the end of the event, the Consulate also organized a UNI- TEA moments along with the participants.

Constitution Day Celebration 2022 - CGI Hambantota (November 2022)

To mark the occasion of celebrating India’s Constitution Day, the Consulate organized a special lecture on the theme Constitutional Values and Fundamental Principles of the Indian Constitution as well as a photo exhibition on the theme The Making of Indian Constitution on 25th November 2022 at the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences Auditorium of the University of Ruhuna. On 26th November Consul General and officials of the Consulate read the Preamble of the Constitution which professes guiding principles of India. The Photo exhibition was inaugurated by Consul General Mr. Dipin P.R along with Vice Chancellor, Senior Professor Sujeewa Amarasena, Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof. Saman Chandana & Dean of the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences Prof. Upali Pannialage. The special session was conducted by Dr. Sampath Rajapaksha, Senior lecturer, Department of Political Science, Faculty of Social Science, University of Kelaniya. 2nd Edition of AKAM –Zero Five Premier League – CGI Hambantota (November 2022)

As a part of celebrating 75 years of India’s Independence (Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav) Consulate General of India, Hambantota in association with 05 Group - Old Boy Association of Mahinda College organized the 2nd Edition of AKAM –Zero Five Premier League – 2022 cricket tournament on 26th November 2022 at Kumme Public Ground, Baddegama. Total Six Cricket teams representing the 05 Group of All Boy Association took part in the tournament. The Championship was won by Team Grizzly Bears and the all the winners were presented with trophies by Consul General Mr. Dipin P.R.

74th Republic Day of India Flag Hoisting - CGI Hambantota (January 2023)

The Consulate General of India, Hambantota celebrated the 74th Republic Day of India on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at the Consulate premises in Hambantota with great patriotic zeal and fervor. The event commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by Consul General Mr. Dipin P.R followed by the singing of the National Anthem. Many distinguished personalities, including, District Secretary, Deputy Mayor, Officials of Tri Forces , Senior Government officials, Local police officials, officials from Hambantota Chamber of Commerce, representatives of hospitals etc. participated in the flag hoisting ceremony.

Consulate General of India, Hambantota set up an Indian food corner celebrating culinary diversity of India at the International Food & Cultural Festival organized by Matara District Chamber of Commerce at Matara Beach Park on 18th February 2023. Special Yoga Programme – “Yoga for Body & Mind” in Southern Province - CGI Hambantota (March 2023))

Consulate General of India, Hambantota has been taking various initiatives in spreading awareness about Yoga for the physical & mental well-being of the people since 2015 within the various districts of Southern province & Monaragala District. As part of these initiatives, CGI Hambantota in collaboration with Southern Provincial Ministry of Sports, Youth & Cultural Affairs organized a series of Special Yoga Programme “Yoga for Body & Mind” at Galle Matara & Hambantota Districts. The First Programme was held at Matara District Secretariat on 22nd March 2023. On 23rd March 2023 the second Yoga programme was held at Hambantota District Secretariat premises & the final event was organized on 29th March 2023 at Bope Poddala Divisional Secretariat.

Consulate General of India, Hambantota organized a Vesak Dansal on 05th May 2023, Vesak Full Moon Poyaday at sacred Thissamaharama Raja Maha Viharaya in Hambantota District The Dansal was held in the presence of Ven Dr Dewalagama Dhammasena Thero, Consul General , Vice Consul & other officials of the Consulate.
