Curtain raiser event and cultural events of the ‘Amrit Mahotsav’ organised in Seoul (March 2021)

Indian Cultural Centre, Embassy of India, Seoul organised the curtain raiser event of the ‘Amrit Mahotsav’ on 19th March marking the beginning of the 75 weeks celebrations of India@75. On this occasion, H. E. Mr. Hwang Hee, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Republic of Korea gave the Congratulatory remarks and Shri Prahlad Singh Patel, Minister of Culture and Tourism, Government of India was the Guest of Honour. A dance and musical rendition by the artists from India was also screened during the Curtain raiser ceremony. Under Glimpses of Indian Culture Series, Indian Cultural Centre, Embassy of India, Seoul organised the Spring Festival - Holi on 26th March via Video Conference with the Korean and Indian community members in Republic of Korea. The digital celebration also witnessed experience sharing by local Koreans about Holi in India. This was followed by cultural performances

Organisation of Book Concert, workshop on dance & yoga, IDY celebrations and various Hindi promotional events organised during Amrit Mahotsav Celebrations by EoI, Seoul (June 2021)

1. A Book Concert was organised in collaboration with Asia Culture Center and Asia Culture Institute, Gwangju on illustrated book titled, “Krishna Who Raised the Mountain” published for children in Korean, English and Hindi. The author Ms. Anita Nair joined online from India along with the illustrator of the Book, Ms. Lee Ju-mi. The Book is based on the Indian mythological story of Lord Krishna raising the lofty mountain to save his countrymen from the curse of the rain God, the Indra. This book project started in 2019 and it is now available in the libraries after two long years of hard work; 2. Open House Session on India was organised with Hyewon Girls Middle School. Students enthusiastically participated in Kathak and Yoga Workshop along with a Quiz on India; 3. Open House Session on India was organised for students from Chungshin Girls' High School. On this occasion Kathak and Yoga Workshop along with a Quiz on India was organised. Dr. Sonu Trivedi, Director, SVCC introduced to the students about the activities of the Cultural Centre; 4. As a run-up to 7th International Day Yoga, Shinhwa Middle School in Seoul organised Yoga and Meditation Session for its International Club Members; 5. Curtain Raiser of IDY 2021 was organised at the iconic Namsan Seoul Tower. Located at the top of Namsan Mountain in the geographical center of the city. The Tower is an iconic Seoul landmark that provides bird's-eye view of the city. Given the theme of IDY 2021 “Yoga for Wellness” the Embassy members gave the message which was livestreamed on social media handles and followed by friends and family from the comforts of their home; 6. Yoga Demonstration with students and faculty members of Wongwang Digital University’s, Seoul Campus was organised as a part of 7th IDY Celebrations; 7. 7th IDY celebrations were held at Gimhae City. The Common Yoga Protocol was organised on this occasion in the presence of Mayor of Gimhae Mr. Heo Seong Gon and H. E. Sripriya Ranganathan, Amb of India to ROK.; 8. Busan University of Foreign Studies organised Yoga and Meditation Session for students and faculty members with leading Yoga experts from Busan. 9. Yoga and Meditation Session along with cultural performances were organised at the serene and natural surroundings of Nami Island on the occasion of 7th IDY; 10. Yoga and Meditation Session along with words of wisdom from Gurus from India (Sadhguru and Sri Sri Ravishankar) were hosted online by SVCC on the occasion of 7th IDY; 11. Hindi Competition was organised by SVCC as a part of promotion of Hindi in ROK. Students and local Koreans actively participated in Speech and Poetry competition along with a Quiz on India.
