The Amrit Mahotsav was kicked off by organizing a webinar with participation of Ambassador and prominent women of different origins and from diverse walks of life. Events on Indian History & Culture; Export Promotion; Cultural and Religious Linkages; Traditional Medicineorganised during Amrit Mahotsav Celebrations byEoI, Phnom Penh (April , 2021)

(I) Online Quiz & drawing competition on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in the run up to Dr. Ambedkar Jayanti on 7-14 April 2021, (II) With regard to GOI’s initiative on Buddhist Linkages, a prayer was arranged in Embassy premises by two Monks on 12 April 2021, (III) Reading of Preamble on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti on 14 April 2021, (IV) Webinar was organized on 20 April 2021 with Cambodian Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, and Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, to propagate information on various scholarships offered by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) to Cambodian nationals for 2021-2022, (V) Launched a Sanskrit learning APP “Little Guru” on 20 April 2021, which ICCR has developed in coordination with a private institute, (VI) To celebrate Vesak and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s 130th Birth Anniversary, Embassy, in coordination with the Preah Sihanouk Raja Buddhist University, Phnom Penh, organized a webinar discussion on 25 April 2021 on Buddhism in Cambodia and Southeast Asia and Dr Ambedkar’s vision of a Buddhist Renaissance, (VII) A virtual BSM was organized on 28 April 2021 with Agricultural and Processed Food Export Development Authority (APEDA) and Cambodian Chamber of Commerce to discuss buffalo and other meat export from India, (VIII) Embassy organized an interactive webinar on 28 April 2021 with Ministry of Ayush and Cambodian Center for Traditional Medicines to promote Ayurveda in Cambodia.

IDY 2021 celebrations, Webinars, Meetings and Visits to Provinces organised during Amrit Mahotsav Celebrations by EoI, Phnom Penh (June 2021)

1. Ambassador gave a message on the International Children Day, committing Cambodia’s social and economic development with special focus on women and children; 2. Ambassador addressed on the World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2021, emphasizing on work in promoting WASH programme in Cambodia, Ambassador attended a panel discussion virtually with Female Entrepreneurs and Digitalization in Cambodia; 3. Ambassador had an online meeting with H.E. Aun Pornmoniroth, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance and discussed bilateral issues such as lifting of meat products ban, boosting bilateral trade, India-ASEAN frameworks, cooperation in the fight against Covid-19 etc; 4. Ambassador met with H.E. Monyneath, SG of the National Council for Sustainable Development and discussed cooperation renewable energy for sustainable future; 5. Ambassador met Maha Sangharajah Thipati Bour Kry, Rector of Sihamoni University and expressed interest to work in diverse fields such as culture, religion & education etc. for furthering close ties between India and Cambodia; 6. Ambassador met H.E. Sun Chan Thul, Minister of Public Works and Transport and discussed issues related to cooperation in infrastructure development in Cambodia, training of officials, etc; Ambassador called on Princess Marie Ranariddh and visited her Sobanna Foundation and both agreed to work on cultural collaboration in traditional arts and to promote cultural relations between India and Cambodia; 7. Ambassador called on H.E. Mr. Kanharith Khieu, Minister of Information, and discussed various matters of mutual interest, including training of Ministry’s officials through ITEC; 8. On the occasion of IDY-2021, several Yoga events were organized by the Embassy, starting with online Yoga quiz, curtain raiser yoga sessions in the Embassy premises, main event on 21 June 2021 in the lawns of Sofitel hotel, which was graced by Ambassadors & Diplomatic officials accredited to Cambodia, President of India-Cambodia Alumni Association and representatives from the Royal Government of Cambodia from Ministry of Rural Development, Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Education, Youth & Sports; 9. Embassy also arranged a webinar on Yoga and Ayurveda; 10. Embassy arranged an Air India VBM flight on Delhi-Phnom Penh-Delhi sector which evacuated approx. 140 stranded Indians from Phnom Penh. It also brought around 75 Cambodian nationals from India 11. Ambassador met Samdech Khy Sovvanratana, Acting Rector of Preah Sihanoukraja Buddhist University, and his team and discussed issues related to Buddhist linkages between the two countries, scholarships for Cambodian monks in Buddhist Universities in India, etc.; 12. Ambassador met H.E. Mr. Ly Thuch, Senior Minister and First Vice President and discussed various issues, including training of officials of Cambodian Mine Action Victims Assistance Authority (CMAA), organization of artificial limb camp for the mine/ERW survivors, etc.
