Online Yoga Quiz Competitionorganised during Amrit Mahotsav Celebrations by EoI, Reykjavik(April 2021)

Mission organized online Yoga Quiz Competition in April 2021. Due to imposition of restrictions to contain COVID-19 pandemic by local government, the Mission could not do more events in April 2021.

Little Guru app launch and Amrit Mahotsav Celebrations by EoI, Reykjavik ( May 06, 2021)

The Mission formally launched the India@75 series of event on 06 May 2021 at the Multipurpose Hall of the Chancery in presence of select members from the Indian diaspora and friends of India. Besides launching of India@75 series of event, the Little Guru Sanskrit learning app also was launched the same day. Furthermore, an association of expatriate Indians - Indian Association in Iceland (IAI) - also was launched.

International Day of Yoga celebrations organised during Amrit Mahotsav Celebrations by EoI, Reykjavik (June 21, 2021)

1. The Embassy of India in Reykjavik celebrated the 7th International Day of Yoga 2021 at Reykjavik City Hall, Reykjavik. Owing to the local government restrictions to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, for better outreach, the event was held in a hybrid manner – both physically and virtually. Around 60 people from all strata of the society attended the physical event. The event was live streamed online on Mission’s Facebook page, Twitter and You Tube channel. The programme included address by the Ambassador, message by local dignitary, playing of video message of Prime Minister of India, video clip on Yoga and a Yoga Practice Session following Common Yoga Protocol by Ms. Gudrun Svava Kristinsdottir, a versatile genius – professional dancer, yoga and pilates teacher and holder of two master’s degrees in Engineering from Cornell University. Ms. Alexandra Briem, Speaker & Chairperson of the Reykjavik City Council conveyed the message from Mayor and spoke on the occasion.

75th Independence Day Celebrations at Embassy of India, Reykjavik on 15 August 2021

The Embassy of India in Reykjavik observed the 75th Independence Day of India at the Chancery premises on 15 August 2021. Shri B. Shyam, Ambassador of India to Iceland hoisted the National Flag at 10:00 hrs which was followed by singing of National Anthem. A Few photos, video clips and a Report on the event are uploaded.

Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav - Observation of Special Week from 30 August to 05 September 2021

As a part of India@75 – Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav event series, the Embassy of India in Reykjavik organized the Special Week from 30 August 2021 to 05 September 2021. The weeklong programme included showcasing online saree draping styles, publicity on social media pages, screening of documentaries and screening of Indian films.

Hindi Divas Celebrations

The Mission celebrated Hindi Diwas on Friday, 17th September, 2021 at its multipurpose hall on 1500 Hrs. 2. On 14 September 2021, Ambassador administrated the Official Language Pledge to all India based officers and staff of the Mission. The programme included essay competition, poetry recitation and Bollywood dance by an Icelandic national.
