Visit of External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, to New Zealand and Australia (October 05-11, 2022)

External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, will be visiting New Zealand and Australia from 05-11 October 2022.

2.​ This will be EAM’s first visit to New Zealand. In Auckland, EAM will participate in an event on 06 October along with Prime Minister of New Zealand, H.E. Ms. Jacinda Ardern, to felicitate members of the Indian community in New Zealand for their exceptional achievements and contributions. Both leaders will release India@75 postage stamps to commemorate and showcase Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsavin New Zealand. EAM will launch the book ‘Modi@20: Dreams Meet Delivery’. A book showcasing Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s special bond with the Sikh community ‘Heartfelt - The Legacy of Faith’ will also be released.

3.​ EAM will have bilateral meeting with H.E. Ms. Nanaia Mahuta, Minister of Foreign Affairs of New Zealand in Auckland to discuss and review the entire gamut of our relations. He will also interact with several Ministers, including H.E. Ms. Priyanca Radhakrishnan, Minister for the Community & Voluntary Sector, Diversity, Inclusion and Ethnic Communities, and Youth, who is the first person of Indian origin to become a Minister in New Zealand, Parliamentarians, members of the business community as well as Indian diaspora, including Indian students. In Wellington, he will inaugurate the newly constructed building of the High Commission of India.

4.​ In Australia, EAM will be visiting Canberra and Sydney. It will be EAM’s second visit to Australia this year, the first was in February 2022 to attend the Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Melbourne. EAM will be holding the 13th Foreign Ministers’ Framework Dialogue (FMFD) along with his counterpart H.E. Ms. Penny Wong. EAM will also be meeting Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister, H.E. Mr. Richard Marles. He will also have interactions with the Australian Navy, the media and think tanks, including the Lowy Institute in Sydney.
