COVID ASSISTANCE TO NEIGBHOURING COUNTRIES


1559. SHRI JAGDAMBIKA PAL:

Will the Minister of External Affairs be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government has assisted neighbouring countries and other countries around the world during COVID-19 pandemic with health care and other materials, information and knowledge and if so, the details thereof;

(b) the details of monetary value of assistance provided to foreign countries related to COVID-19 pandemic;

(c) whether the country has received assistance from foreign countries in relation to COVID-19 pandemic; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS

(a) & (b) India provided assistance in the form of medicines and medical equipment to over 150 countries, including grants-in-aid valued at around Rupees 80 crore to 82 countries. A list of these countries is attached at Annex IPDF file that opens in new window. To know how to open PDF file refer Help section located at bottom of the site.. In addition, India sent Rapid Response Medical teams to help some countries in their fight against the pandemic. Recently, India supplied Covid vaccines to Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives, Mauritius, Seychelles, Sri Lanka, Bahrain and Oman.

(c) & (d) India received assistance from a few countries including Japan, USA, France, Germany and Israel in the form of medical equipment and grants-in-aid.
