2738. SHRIMATI SAJDA AHMED:
Will the Minister of EXTERNAL AFFAIRS be pleased to state:
(a) whether Mexico has deported over 300 Indian nationals to India;
(b) if so, the reasons behind this issue;
(c) whether the Government has data about the Indian migrants illegally scattered across the world; and
(d) if so, the details thereof and the action taken thereto?
ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS
[SHRI V. MURALEEDHARAN]
(a) & (b) A total of 311 Indian nationals were deported from Mexico in October 2019, as they had entered Mexico illegally i.e. without any valid travel documents.
(c) & (d) The Government comes to know about an Indian migrant staying illegally in any country either when informed by the host Government or when a complaint is made or assistance sought by an individual or his/ her friends or relatives. Many Countries do
not share data on illegal migrants in their territories citing privacy laws. Hence, it is not possible for the government to have a database on Indians who have migrated abroad illegally.
