MOU WITH BHUTAN


2683. SHRI VENKATESH NETHA BORLAKUNTA:

Will the Minister of EXTERNAL AFFAIRS be pleased to state:

(a) whether India and Bhutan inked MoUs recently;

(b) if so, the details and the outcome thereof; and

(c) the benefits to our country from such MoUs so far in different fields?

(a) Yes. India and Bhutan signed 10 MoUs in the areas of education, IT, space, hydropower, legal and civil aviation sector during the visit of Prime Minister of India to Bhutan in August 17-18, 2019.

(b) & (c) The list of MoUs signed during Prime Minister’s visit is enclosed. These MoUs will further strengthen and deepen our close and multifaceted bilateral relations and people to people linkages with Bhutan.

Power Purchase Agreement between PTC India Limited and Druk Green Power Corporation Limited for Sale and Purchase of Mangdechchu Power.

5.

MoU between Bhutan National Legal Institute and National Judicial Academy, Bhopal on cooperation in Judicial Education and Mutual Exchanges.

6.

MoU between Jigme Singye Wangchuk School of Law, Thimphu, Bhutan and National Law School of India University, Bangalore, India, on enhancing relations between the two parties and seeking to develop academic and cultural interchange in the areas of legal education and research.

7.

MoU between the Royal University of Bhutan and Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.

MoU between the Royal University of Bhutan and Inational Institute of Technology, Silchar.
