Advisory for ECR Passport Holders

It has been noticed that some Indian nationals having passports stamped with "Emigration Check Required” (ECR) are travelling through third countries for undertaking overseas employment in ECR countries, thereby circumventing the mandatory emigration clearance
procedure at the departure points in India. This is in violation of the Emigration rules of the Government of India.
All Indian nationals with ECR stamped passports leaving for overseas employment to ECR category countries must obtain emigration clearance from the office of Protector of Emigrants on their departure from India.
